Rosary Project Due Wed. Oct. 10, 2012

Students will be bringing home a half sheet of poster board today with instructions for a Rosary Project. Please allow your child to do the project unassisted. I encouraged them to color or paint their background a light color. Then, trace a large circle in the middle of the board (I used a dinner plate). Place 50 small objects, 10 at a time, with a circle separating each 10 objects to resemble a real Rosary. Attach 5 extra pieces just below the circle and connect to a Crucifix for the beginning of the Rosary. Include a title, name and date. All work should be their neatest as projects will be displayed in the hallway. Have fun and be creative!

Fruit of the Spirit Song

We began learning about the Fruit of the Spirit today. Ask your child how he or she knows the Holy Spirit lives in them. I am challenging them to be able to name the Fruits of the Spirit by Friday. This song will help them remember:

Twin/ Look Alike Day and 100th Day too!

I polled the students today to make sure everyone had a look alike friend with which to dress tomorrow for twin day.

Tomorrow is also the 100th day of school. We will be doing activities throughout the day to celebrate. Our service project for this day has just about reached its' goal. We were trying to collect 100 canned goods for Bluffton Self Help. We are at 98!

Tomorrow is a picnic lunch outside. Students should bring a towel or small blanket to sit on.

Students may purchase and decorate a cupcake for $1. All proceeds will benefit a Catholic school in Charleston, SC.

100th Day of School!

Next Wednesday, February 1st, we will celebrate the 100th Day of School! We will be taking part in many activities that involve counting to 100. To combine this celebration with an act of service, we are asking for each child to bring in 4 canned goods. This is bring us to just over 100 canned goods that we will be able to donate to Bluffton Self Help.

Auction Item

Parents, our bookshelves are under construction and should be on display by Muffins for Moms. We will have two differnt bookcases, one built like a king or queen's throne with shelving underneath a seat and the other as a longer floor shelf that also includes a reading seat. We are asking that each child choose one gently used book from their own collection at home to donate to the auction item. We will display these books on the shelf. We are also including two Hallmark recordable holiday books as an added bonus as well as some baskets for housing books. Let me know if you have any other wonderful ideas.

Please allow your child to bring in one gently used book to donate to the auction.

Happy New Year!

Perhaps 2012 is a good time to begin a blogspot for students and parents. We have had a wonderful 85 days of school so far. I am so proud of how well students work together and help each other. I will keep this site mostly for sharing spelling words, but will also post other helpful forms such as reading logs, book report pages, newsletters, and any other requests. I hope you will find it beneficial.
